- Kalodata estimates platform-wide data; it is not a TikTok Shop Partner and cannot read your own shop
- If you want trending products and creator research, the closest alternatives are FastMoss and EchoTik
- If you want to know what you actually earned, that is a different category of tool entirely
- Most sellers who feel let down by a research tool bought it expecting their own numbers
A Kalodata alternative depends entirely on which question you are trying to answer. Kalodata estimates what is selling across TikTok Shop. It does not, and cannot, tell you what your own shop earned — and that distinction decides which tool you actually need.
This guide covers what Kalodata does, the one limit that is structural rather than a missing feature, and what to use instead in each case.
Why Sellers Look for a Kalodata Alternative
Three reasons come up, and they point to different answers.
The subscription is hard to justify at low volume. Research tools are priced for sellers running many product tests a month. If you sell five products steadily, you are paying for a firehose you check twice.
The numbers are estimates. Platform-wide market intelligence is built by observing public data at scale, then modelling the rest. It is directionally useful for spotting a trend. It is not accounting.
It never showed your margin. This is the most common one, and it is not a fault in the product. It was never built to.
What Kalodata Actually Does
Kalodata is a product research and market analytics platform for TikTok Shop. Its own site describes real-time product rankings, creator intelligence across audience demographics and sales performance, competitor tracking, and category-level market insights, with up to 365 days of history. Coverage spans the United States, the United Kingdom and South-East Asia, and it runs a 7-day free trial.
For finding your next product, that is a serious toolkit. Checked 12 August 2026 against kalodata.com; no free plan is documented alongside the trial, and we do not quote competitor pricing here because published figures on this market go stale within a quarter — check their site directly.
What it is good at
Spotting a category ranking shift before it reaches everyone's feed. Identifying which creators actually convert in your niche rather than which have the biggest following. Seeing what a competing shop pushes hardest. These are real jobs, and doing them from public data is legitimate.
The Structural Limit: It Is Not a TikTok Shop Partner
Here is the part that matters most, and it is not a criticism — it is a fact about how the tool is built.
Kalodata states on its own site that it is an independent platform, "not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially associated with TikTok, TikTok Shop, or ByteDance". It is operated by Kalowave Technology Co., Limited.
That has one concrete consequence. Only official TikTok Shop Partner apps can read your order and settlement data through the Partner API. An independent platform cannot. So no matter how good its modelling is, it is working from the outside: public listings, observable sales signals, estimates.
Which means it cannot see:
- Your actual seller payout, after every fee TikTok deducted
- What you paid your supplier — TikTok does not hold your COGS and neither does anyone else
- Your ad spend, which lives in a separate system with its own login
- Your refund losses, order by order
None of that is a missing feature request. It is outside what an unaffiliated tool can access, and it will stay that way.
Kalodata Alternatives for Product Research
If product research is genuinely what you want, the closest comparable tools are FastMoss and EchoTik. All three work the same way — platform-wide observation and estimation — so they share the same structural boundary described above, and they compete on coverage, interface and how far back their history goes.
| Kalodata | FastMoss | EchoTik | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Job | Product & creator research | Product & creator research | Product & creator research |
| Data source | Platform-wide estimates | Platform-wide estimates | Platform-wide estimates |
| Reads your shop | No | No | No |
| Shows your net margin | No | No | No |
The honest summary: switching between them changes your coverage and your interface. It does not change what class of question you can answer. Compare them on the markets you sell in and on how much history you need, and take the trial before committing.
If You Want Your Own Numbers, That Is a Different Category
This is where most of the disappointment with research tools comes from, and it is worth being blunt about.
Product research answers "what should I sell?". Profit tracking answers "am I making money on what I already sell?". Those need different data, from different places, and almost no tool does both well.
| Market intelligence | Profit tracking | |
|---|---|---|
| Question | What should I sell? | Am I making money? |
| Data source | Platform-wide estimates | Your own shop, via Partner API |
| Needs your COGS | No | Yes — only you have it |
| When you use it | Before launching a product | Every day after |
If your real question is the second one, a research subscription will never answer it, however long you keep paying. You need a tool with Partner API access, and you need to enter your own product costs, because no platform holds them.
Our comparison of TikTok Shop profit trackers covers that category in detail, including which tools have a free plan rather than a trial.
The trap in the middle
Watch for tools that report GMV as though it were earnings. The headline figure on any TikTok dashboard is order value before every deduction — for a typical UK seller, 65 to 75% of it never becomes revenue. If a tool shows you a big number and calls it revenue, read what GMV actually means before you make decisions on it.
Kalodata in the UK
Kalodata covers the United Kingdom, so UK sellers can use it for the research job as intended.
What changes in the UK is the profit side, not the research side. UK commission runs at 9% against 6% in the US, with a £0.50 Shipped by Seller fee per order since July 2025, and returns carry a refund administration charge on top. A UK seller therefore needs stronger gross margins than a US seller on identical products — and none of those deductions appear in any research tool, because they are specific to your orders.
If you sell in the UK, the numbers that decide your pricing are in our complete guide to TikTok Shop fees, which now covers EU rates by country as well.
Which One Should You Actually Pay For?
A short decision, honestly put:
Launching new products often, testing many SKUs, working with creators at scale. A research tool earns its keep. Kalodata, FastMoss or EchoTik — take the trials and pick on coverage in your markets.
Selling a stable range and unsure which products actually make money. Research will not help. You need per-SKU margin from your own order data.
Both. Then they are two line items, not one. That is the reality of the split, and pretending one tool covers both is how sellers end up paying for a subscription they check twice a month.
Model a price before you list it with our free TikTok Shop profit calculator — no account needed.
And if you are already selling, Margn is an official TikTok Shop Partner app that connects to your shop, applies your cost per SKU, and calculates net profit per product and per day from your real orders. Free for 500 orders a month, no card required.
